Episode 62

Trauma, PTSD, and Substance Abuse

About this episode

Davin Cole spent 31 years in law enforcement. He rose to Lieutenant at the San Francisco Police Department and dedicated his career to public service. Then a severe on-duty injury, prescription painkillers, addiction, and eventually arrest ended that chapter.

What followed was a process of rebuilding — through recovery, a diagnosis of Complex PTSD, and eventually advocacy. He now speaks at police departments and conferences about what happens when the people trained to help others don't ask for help themselves.

This episode is about trauma, addiction, the culture of silence in law enforcement, and what recovery actually looks like.
